COX CONSIGNS STRONG PAIR TO LOS ALAMITOS EQUINE SALE
LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE, CYPRESS, CA... Bobby & Leona Cox's Cox Ranch has consigned two horses to the Los Alamitos Equine Sale. The pedigree lines on these two yearlings make them a noteworthy pair.
Cox Ranch has consigned a large number of the horses that he bred to the Heritage Place Sale, but he has saved two of his best consignments for the Los Alamitos Equine Sale. Cox will be represented in the Equine Sale by Hip #94, a sorrel March colt named Luminaro, and also by Hip #259, a sorrel late April filly named Maichex Donbounz. The later is the daughter of Check Him Out and out of the stakes winning mare Blues Grass Bounce. The Pritzi Dash broodmare won five races and over $242,367 while racing at Los Alamitos. Her biggest win was the Governor's Cup Derby. She also ran second in the Golden State Derby and was third in the Governor's Cup Futurity. As a broodmare she has five horses that have race of which four have earned register of merit. Maichex Donbounz's family includes champions Hawkish and Hawkinson, as well as Pride Of Katella, a winner of nearly $200,000.
Luminaro is a colt by Separatist out of the outstanding Quick Moon Sign. As a runner, Quick Moon Sign earned $420,000 while winning the Remington Park Futurity and Blue Ribbon Futurity. Quick Moon Sign is the mother of the stakes placed runners Intergalactica, Quintessential Queen and Cosmograph. Separatist, of course, is one of the great runners to ever compete at Los Alamitos. The outstanding champion won nearly $900,000 in his career while sweeping the Governor's Cup Futurity and Derby. He also won the Los Alamitos Derby and raced in the Champion of Champions. As a sire, his progeny includes World Champion DM Shicago, the All American Futurity winner of more than $1.87 million. Separatist is enjoying an outstanding 2009 season as a sire, as his son Separate Bet won the Remington Park Championship, while his son Inseperable won the Rainbow Derby.

Back to horses, Cox's homebreds include All American Derby and Rainbow Derby winner Brimmerton, the 2004 champion 3-year-old colt, and Ruidoso Futurity winner All About Ease. Cox's first racehorse was a Thoroughbred claimer. The horse was a winner, and Cox became a fan for life. The disciplines of breeding and racing Quarter Horses has been better for it ever since.
