FIVE HENRY BROWN YEARLINGS IN 2009 EQUINE SALE
LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE, CYPRESS, CA... With a promising group of five yearlings, Henry Brown's consignment figure to be among the most exciting ones at 2009 Los Alamitos Equine Sale on October 3 and 4.
Leading the way will be hip number 72, Famous Teller. A half-sister to a pair of five-time winners, Famous Teller comes from a strong female family line. Among her most noteworthy of siblings is Separate Tac, the second-place finisher from the 2006 Rainbow Derby, and I Ought To Be First, 2003's Vandys Flash Handicap winner. In addition to capturing that Grade III event, I Ought To Be First also finished second in the California Derby Challenge and third in the Los Alamitos Derby.
Selling second in this year's Equine Sale will be another yearling by Teller Cartel named Tell The World. Hip number 216, Tell The World is a colt out of the Strawfly Special mare Worldly Ways.
One of Brown's most exciting yearlings in the catalog is Azoom To The Top, a daughter of Azoom out of $144,442 earner Dashing Little Reba. A four-time winner, she triumphed in the Grade III Rainbow Juvenile Stakes and finished third in the West Texas Derby at the age of three. Since her retirement, Dashing Little Reba has produced several talented runners including multiple Grade I-finalist Little Rebas Corona and Zoomin Fool, the runner-up in last year's PCQHRA Breeders' Futurity. The sire Azoom also received a major boost last month after one of his sons, Zoomin With Ease, captured the Grade I Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs. Azoom To The Top is hip number 305.
Fish For Diamonds is another interesting filly. Out of $32,698 earner Diamond For Lois, this daughter of Fishers Dash hails from a nice tail family that also includes Manor Downs Handicap winner Speedy Perry and Remington Park Futurity finalist Perry Lane. Hip number 312 in this year's auction, Fish For Diamonds inherits a great deal of class from her second dam, 1994 World Champion Down With Debt.
Rounding out Henry Brown's quintet is another nicely bred filly named Jazz This. By Separatist and out of the multiple stakes winner Jazzy Corona, her pedigree is likely to excite a myriad of potential buyers. Victorious in the 2003 Speedhorse Gold And Silver Cup Derby, as well as the Joe B. Turner Memorial Stakes from Lone Star Park, Jazzy Corona racked up four lifetime wins and banked over $100,000 in earnings. In addition to those two stakes victories, Jazzy Corona also finished third in both the Heritage Place Futurity and the Oklahoma Futurity at the age of two.
